Key Points

  • SeaDream Yacht Club is now accepting over 200 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, for its services.
  • The cruise operator has partnered with Coinbase Commerce to handle these digital transactions.
  • SeaDream Yacht Club, a Norwegian luxury cruise operator, has begun accepting over 200 different cryptocurrencies. This includes Bitcoin and Ethereum for voyages and full-yacht charters. The announcement was made at the 2025 WAGMI Blockchain Conference in Miami. According to a news report by SeatradeCruise, SeaDream Yacht Club is the first cruise operator to accept cryptocurrency as a payment option for all its voyages.

    Partnership with Coinbase Commerce

The cruise operator has entered into a partnership with Coinbase Commerce. This platform will handle all cryptocurrency payments. Customers can make payments in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and over 200 other cryptocurrencies. Coinbase Commerce is an on-chain payment processor developed by the U.S.-based crypto exchange. It allows merchants to accept digital currency payments from any corner of the globe.

As part of this partnership, SeaDream has also launched a digital payment solution for cryptocurrencies on its official website. This solution will be integrated into its existing booking system in the coming weeks.

This initiative also allows SeaDream Yacht Club to accept cryptocurrency for full-yacht charters. This simplifies transactions for international clients by eliminating the need for currency exchange.

Andreas Brynestad, President and CEO of SeaDream Yacht Club, commented on this development. He stated that accepting cryptocurrency allows the cruise operator to meet the growing demand for a crypto payment option among its clientele.

This development comes as cryptocurrencies gain popularity in the travel sector. An increasing number of companies are adopting digital payment options. This is done to attract tech-savvy customers and streamline international transactions.

Last month, Florida-based cruise line Virgin Voyages started accepting Bitcoin for cruise bookings. In September, Travala, a blockchain and crypto-focused online travel agency, partnered with travel marketplace Skyscanner. This partnership allows Skyscanner users to access Travala.com’s inventory of over 2.2 million hotels.
