Right-wing bloggers are in a huff because some of their colleagues have been dropped as Google News sources, in at least one instance for authoring what Google calls “hate speech.” They’re also upset because Michelle Malkin’s blog isn’t a source, nor Charles Johnson’s Little Green Footballs, which is due to not to an ideological bias but to Google’s policy of excluding sole-proprietor blogs of any stripe from the news aggregator. . . . → Read More: Your Constitutional right to be a Google News source

I decided to take a break from a seemingly endless web site redesign by categorizing some hundreds of posts I wrote before the site had categories (something I’ve now abandoned in favor of writing this), and ran across one about Don Rumsfeld’s somewhat mystic approach to the War on Terra®. The subject was a then-infamous memo in which Rumsfeld acknowledged that contrary to public declarations at the time, he, and presumably the administration, lacked the ability to quantify success in The Long War. . . . → Read More: Down Memory Lane With Don Rumsfeld and The Thumbprint of Evil

According to the New York Times, Al Gore is seen as “deeply stigmatized” by Democrats on account of his 2000 loss in the Supreme Court. But the Democrats cited in the article are either favorably disposed toward Gore or are among the members of a Democratic party elite who have never come close to winning a majority of the popular vote, as Gore did in his run. . . . → Read More: Gore looking good for 2008 presidential contest

Political activists often castigate presidents for passing the costs of the current generation on to the next. President Bush has taken the practice to new heights. Along with his cavalier attitude toward war, national security, the deficit and the environment, he has raised taxes on the one group who can’t vote against him: our children. . . . → Read More: For younger generation, Bush administration is taxing

Privacy—in and of itself—is a fundamental right. It is our right, and our inherent birth right as Americans. You don’t watch citizens—you watch criminals and mostly only convicted criminals at that. . . . → Read More: Citizens & Other Criminals…

Melanie Morgan says the president “does not speak for the people of this nation and that we find his actions and words to be shameful, detrimental and inexcusable.” She wants Congress to censure him, and she’s raised enough money to produce and run TV ads to back up her call. But the president in her crosshairs was elected three decades ago. . . . → Read More: Group runs TV ads calling for censure of president

If you don’t mind listening to music that might be more than a week old and isn’t in hourly rotation on your local station, check out BBC’s Radio 6. The programming includes documentaries, classic rock — actual classics, not just crappy antiques — current rock, dub and more, all available via a RealAudio feed and of course without commercials. I’ve been listening to it steadily for a week or so, and my only complaint is that Primal Scream’s “Country Girl,” a chameleon-like rocker destined to be this year’s must for cover bands, is the lone exception to the heavy rotation rule. . . . → Read More: BBC Radio 6 and other confections for the mind
