Already Quacking
We on the left used to be a bit obsessed with George Bush. Myself included. But now, almost without realizing it, the President is becoming a marginalized figure. Bill Frist is leading the charge to eliminate the filibuster (and impose a theocracy on the United States). Tom Delay is (barely) holding on despite an avalanche of negative publicity, which points to his vital importance to the GOP majority. Meanwhile, the Social Security proposal, Bush’s signature domestic agenda item, appears dead in the water.
Only a few months after his re-election, Bush is almost an ignored figure in American politics. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.

better for him to abuse his power, hmm?
April 16th, 2005 at 1:32 pmIt’s not that Frist is seizing the initiative from Bush. Frist isn’t even a good hack. It’s the specter of Hillary that’s beginning to settle on Washington.
