Things you would think one would be curious about, Part III

In our continuing (why is a veteran combat medic delivering pizzas) coverage (how did a guy draw a life sentence for theft) of the Associated Press “Strange News” archives, we bring you the story of one Charles Jones Jr., a homeless man who was discovered living in the basement of a library.

Okay, we lied. We don’t bring you his story. That’s because AP offers no biographical information other than the guy’s name and age.

Neptune police Detective Lt. Steven Peters says Jones told officers he had been living in the building. Police discovered several books in the basement and found the 26-year-old had taken food from the employee break room.

Were I an Associated Press stringer, a position for which I’m unqualified because I don’t understand how journalism works, I would want to know, at a minimum, how the guy wound up homeless; where he stayed before that Jersey library basement; where he’s from originally; what he was reading; whether or not he was respectful of his unwitting hosts; and, what his plans for the future may or may not be, excluding possible jail time on the burglary and theft charges filed against him.

Unlike the previous two AP stories in our series, no additional details are available from other sources.
