Joe:
Bottom line, you have two choices, particularly in swing states. In “safe” states, voting third is a valid option.

I like the way you put this. Some candidates (or "options") are "valid", and others, presumably, are "invalid". And how generous of you to permit those living in "safe" states (not me, unfortunately) to vote their conscience!

I hope you're not too shocked to learn that I'm not very interested in which of my "options" you consider "valid."

Jack, the most significant difference between the Clinton and Obama plans is the call for mandates in the former. I will be very surprised if, should a Clinton-like plan be enacted, the question of whether the government can actually force someone to buy health insurance against their will doesn't wind up in the Supreme Court. It isn't like mandatory car insurance, which can be avoided if one doesn't drive. None of the plans are a good substitute for genuine universal care.

Obama has chosen to distort and attack the universal healthcare proposals that Clinton AND EDWARDS support. Obama is distorting this exactly like a Republican would. His smear campaign needs to stop, because Clinton and Edwards have a much better healthcare proposal than Obama has. Supporters of Edwards should support Clinton for this reason along; healthcare is simply one of the most important human rights, and it is simply disgusting to see Obama be so ruthless in distorting the facts. Most of all, Clinton and Edwards have a plan that needs to be respected and pursued.

Personally, if i could, i would vote for Paul. I think Fascism is too high a probability for this country. You need to get someone who doesn't give a shit about the executive, who wants to shrink it for real. I hate Paul's economics, but i say it's too dangerous to let any other candidates in power. Obama is more dangerous than Paul as far as abusing government powers go. He's got the reasoning of a prophet.
