I read <i>Bones</i> a couple years ago, and didn't find the prose or the characters at quite the same level as some of Swanwick's other stuff, but I liked the premise that time-travel required everyone's consent to not screw it all up. I thought the ending was pretty cool too. Reminded me of something Robert Charles Wilson (one of my favorites) would do. The Hughart that's easy to find is <i>Bridge of Birds</i>, which is probably slightly better than the sequel anwyway. K Thanks so much.

I read Bones a couple years ago, and didn’t find the prose or the characters at quite the same level as some of Swanwick’s other stuff, but I liked the premise that time-travel required everyone’s consent to not screw it all up. Swanwick is great, and this is one of my favorite books of his--but have you read <i>Bones of the Earth</i>? One of the best book endings ever. Will check out the Hughart.
