Meet the Bad Crow: short takes on news, politics and vagaries

BTC News has launched a new weblog to provide updates on news and events and links to other sources we think will be of interest to our readers and that we don’t have the time to cover in depth as we do here. Bad Crow was officially launched today, and we encourage our readers to visit the new site and let us know what you think of it and what issues you would like us to cover on it.

We’re proud of our detailed reporting and commentary on important issues, and we think Bad Crow will complement BTC News by allowing us to cover a broader range of items, including offbeat stories that you might otherwise miss.

First-day items on the new site include:

  • New York City authorities sprang into action when Lower Manhattan was permeated with an incredibly delicious scent. Hundreds of alarmed residents called emergency operators.
  • Bill Clinton suggested to Democrats Saturday that they stop cowering in corners and press their agenda, assuming it exists, or get out of politics.
  • Chris Floyd explains the mercurial rise of future Republican president Calvin J. Hooper.
  • Newsweek claims Saddam Hussein accepted an offer of exile and immunity prior to the invasion of Iraq.

Along with items we’re unable to cover at length on BTC News, Bad Crow will feature heads-ups on stories we do plan to address here, and links to more thorough coverage of Bad Crow items.

Were just embarked on our third year of operation. We thank our readers for your support, both financial and moral: with your help, we hope to prove that independent journalism can survive and thrive. And we’d like to offer a tip of the hat to our contributors — including especially BTC News White House writer Eric Brewer, whose work in the White House press room has proved invaluable — for providing consistently strong coverage of issues that affect all of us, no matter our politics or stations in life, and to the many other progressive web sites who have supported and encouraged us during the past two years.

Onward …
